Pocket sprung mattress
A pocket sprung mattress is by far the best-selling mattress. Characteristic of a pocket sprung mattress is its excellent support and ventilation properties. The latter is primarily due to the very open structure, which guarantees you a wonderfully fresh and clean sleeping environment.
Composition of a pocket sprung mattress
The core of a pocket sprung mattress is divided into 5 zones (or 7, it just depends how you count them...) and consists of cylindrical or barrel-shaped metal springs. The metal springs are individually wrapped in a pocket (small bag). Each spring therefore remains perfectly in place and thus provides its own support.
The metal springs have different wire thicknesses, which means that a pocket sprung mattress is more or less firm depending on the zone. This creates an extremely flexible and easily bendable spring interior with a high load-bearing capacity.
A pocket sprung mattress also scores the best on point elasticity compared to all other mattresses. Point elasticity is the ability to compress a portion of the mattress without a large surface area of the mattress bouncing down. The more point elastic a material is, the better it can conform to the contours of the body and the more precise the support.
