Recommended Retail Price vs Selling Price

The recommended retail price is not the original selling price. The recommended retail price*, also known as the list price, manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), or official selling price, is the price that the manufacturer or supplier recommends to the seller for a product or service. There is no legal obligation for the seller to apply this recommended price. The seller is free to lower or increase the price, resulting in the selling price.

The recommended retail price is often used by consumers as a reference price to compare offers. Manufacturers may also use it to highlight discounts.

Advantages of a recommended retail price:

  • For consumers: Provides a reference point for comparing prices.
  • For manufacturers: Helps maintain brand value and manage price competition.

Disadvantages of a recommended retail price:

  • Can be misleading: The recommended price is not always the actual selling price.
  • May lead to unfair competition.
  • Manufacturers may artificially inflate the recommended price to make discounts appear larger.

Tips for consumers:

  • Take the recommended retail price into account, but do not use it as the only factor when making a purchase decision.
  • Compare prices from different sellers before buying.
  • Be critical of discounts: they are not always as large as they seem.

Some useful resources for comparing prices:

Offers – You never pay too much with us!

As we primarily focus on online sales, we are naturally required to keep our prices as low as possible. We closely follow market prices, which is clearly to your advantage. With us, you never pay too much!

Online offers (in our webshop), such as a free pillowcase with the purchase of a pillow or an extra discount when buying two or more items, do not apply when you come to try the same product in our shop/showroom and receive personal advice. Personal attention and advice naturally require significantly more of our time. The prices of the items in our shop are, of course, the same as the online prices.

As our pricing is already very competitive (meaning there is only a small margin left for us), we unfortunately cannot combine such promotions and offers with personal advice in our shop. We appreciate your understanding.

Bundle discounts

For clarity, if you have purchased a product on offer in combination with another product, and the product linked to the offer is returned, the promotional price will no longer apply and you will be charged the standard selling price for the discounted item.
