You can place any type of mattress on a flat slatted base. Do choose a good-quality slatted base, preferably made of beech wood and with at least 28 slats. It’s also important that the slats sit over the frame, so the support is distributed across the full base.

If you buy a slatted base with an adjustable middle zone, you can also determine the flexibility of the base yourself (more or less). More flex means softer support. Less flex means firmer support. Very handy, isn’t it!
