Winter Duvets, For the Cold Sleepers
When the temperature drops, there’s nothing better than snuggling into a warm, cosy winter duvet. But not all winter duvets are the same. Some people prefer a heavy and thick duvet for that tucked-in feeling, while others sleep better under something lighter yet still warm. If sustainability matters to you as well, we also offer a wide selection of eco-friendly and organic options.

When should you switch to a winter duvet?

There are several reasons you might consider buying a winter duvet:

When the temperature drops
Once indoor temperatures fall below 15°C, it’s time to bring out your winter duvet. A lightweight summer duvet just won’t cut it when the chill sets in. Winter duvets are specifically designed to provide comfort and warmth during the colder months.

When your current duvet needs replacing
If your current winter duvet no longer keeps you warm or loses its fluffiness after washing, it might be time for a replacement. Over time, the filling can lose its volume and insulation, which directly affects your comfort.

When you want a better night’s sleep
If your existing winter duvet feels too thin, too light, or simply doesn’t meet your needs, don’t settle for discomfort. A well-chosen duvet tailored to your preferences can significantly improve your sleep quality. Life’s too short for restless nights!

Understanding the Warmth of a Winter Duvet

To make it easier to compare the warmth of different duvets, they are classified into warmth categories. A category 4 duvet is light and cool, while category 1 duvets are the warmest available. Our winter duvets naturally fall under warmth class 1. An excellent alternative to a traditional winter duvet is a 4-season duvet. This consists of two parts a lightweight summer duvet (class 4) and a spring/autumn duvet (class 3) that can be fastened together to create a wonderfully warm winter option.

What Makes the Best Winter Duvet?

There is no single duvet that can be declared the best, as it truly depends on personal preferences. What feels perfect for one person might not suit another. Some prefer the cosiness of a heavy duvet, while others enjoy the lightness of a more breathable option. You might also need to consider whether you perspire at night, suffer from allergies, or prefer animal-free materials. Every type of duvet filling comes with its own unique qualities and benefits, which we explore in more detail below to help guide your decision.

Our assortment of winter duvets
In our webshop, you will find winter duvets composed of various materials. Read more below about our range:

We offer duvets in different sizes. You can purchase a duvet for a toddler or young child, single beds, and of course double beds. Within this, you have the option of different dimensions, from standard (200 by 220 cm) to lits-jumeaux (240 by 220) and lits-jumeaux XL (260 by 220).

Woollen Winter Duvet, Heavier and Wonderfully Warm
A heavier duvet can be ideal for those who love the snug feeling of being tucked in. Recent studies even suggest that a heavier duvet may help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep more soundly.

Our collection includes warm woollen winter duvets filled with pure Texel wool or organic Merino-like sheep’s wool. Wool is naturally heavy and insulating. It retains heat exceptionally well, making a woollen winter duvet the perfect match for anyone who gets cold easily or sleeps in a chilly bedroom. Even if you briefly get out of bed during the night, a wool duvet retains its warmth, offering a cosy return. At the same time, wool also breathes well, ensuring you never feel overheated under it.

There’s no need to wash a woollen winter duvet after all, sheep don’t wash themselves. Thanks to the purified lanolin (wool grease) present in the duvet, the material naturally repels dirt. To keep your wool duvet fresh, all it needs is the occasional airing. A quality woollen winter duvet can last around ten years, after which it’s wise to replace it for hygienic reasons.

Cashmere Winter Duvet, Soft Goat Wool, a True Indulgence
In addition to wool duvets made from sheep’s wool or Merino, we also offer winter duvets filled with luxurious cashmere to keep you warm all season long. Cashmere comes from the Cashmere goat, a species accustomed to extreme temperature fluctuations. The result is a wonderfully soft and supple material that enhances comfort and warmth during winter nights. Cashmere insulates well, even at a lighter weight, making these duvets noticeably lighter than traditional woollen ones.

Down Winter Duvets - Warm, Light, and Airy
Like wool, down is an animal-derived material, taken from geese or ducks. The down beneath their feathers keeps them warm through winter, making it an excellent insulator. A down winter duvet is ideal for those who love to stay warm but prefer a lighter feel. Another benefit of down is its ability to regulate moisture effectively. The natural loft of the down creates pockets of air that allow moisture to evaporate with ease. Down duvets can generally be washed at up to forty degrees in the washing machine, though you should always check the care label first.

Silk Winter Duvet – Thin, Soft, and Hypoallergenic
A silk winter duvet is the perfect choice for those who prefer a lighter and thinner option. Despite its delicate and lightweight nature, silk provides excellent warmth during the colder months. Silk is produced by the silkworm, making it an animal-based product. One of the standout advantages of a silk winter duvet is that it’s hypoallergenic and naturally resistant to dust mites.

As a delicate material, silk requires special care when washing. It should be cleaned using a wool or hand-wash cycle at 30°C and always left to air dry. Avoid forcing a silk duvet into the washing machine, as it needs space to move freely. If it doesn’t fit in your machine, hand wash it or have it professionally dry cleaned.

Tencel Winter Duvet – Soft, Light, Thick, and Exceptionally Strong
Tencel winter duvets are an excellent choice for the colder seasons. They offer the best of both worlds: a thick yet lightweight structure. Tencel is soft, breathable, and naturally cool. Made from wood pulp fibres, Tencel is 100% natural and biodegradable. One of its most remarkable features is its ability to absorb moisture while remaining breathable. It also naturally repels bacteria, making it an ideal option for those who sweat at night but still want to stay warm and comfortable.

Organic Duvets – Kind to the Environment and to Animals
Our range also includes several fully organic duvets, all carrying trusted eco-labels such as Greenline, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and the Fairtrade label. These organic winter duvets are guaranteed to be sustainably produced, without the use of chemicals, ensuring a healthier sleep for you and a kinder process for the planet.

A Duvet for After Winter
You likely won’t want to sleep under a winter duvet all year round. That’s why we also offer a wide selection of alternatives. You can explore our summer duvets, four-season duvets, or even all-year-round options.

4 Season Duvet
A 4-season duvet offers complete flexibility. It consists of two separate layers: a light summer duvet with warmth class 4 and a slightly thicker one with warmth class 3 for spring and autumn. When the temperature drops, the two can be joined together to create a cosy winter duvet with warmth class 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a winter duvet?
A winter duvet is a thick, warm duvet specifically designed for the colder months or for anyone who tends to feel the cold more. Winter duvets typically fall under warmth class 1. If you own a four-season duvet, you can easily turn it into a winter duvet by combining both layers.

When should you switch to a winter duvet?
A winter duvet is ideal for chilly winter nights. When exactly you’ll need it depends on how cold you tend to feel. Some people reach for their winter duvet as early as October or November. On average, most use a winter duvet from December through to February. If you have a four-season duvet, combining both parts during this period will give you the same cosy warmth as a dedicated winter duvet.
