Talalay latex mattress
Latex is a widely used material for mattresses and pillows. A latex mattress is ideally suited for people who prefer a soft and supple mattress with good climate and moisture regulating properties.
The adaptation of latex to the shapes of the body is optimal. All body parts are supported in the correct manner. As a result, minimal back pressure is experienced on the body. Due to the open cell structure of latex, the ventilation channels and the surface profiling, a constant air circulation is guaranteed. The movement of the sleeper simultaneously creates a pumping and suction effect, which ensures a constant air exchange. Latex quickly adopts your body temperature and therefore feels very comfortable.
What is latex?
Latex is a natural product that is obtained from the rubber tree. The milk sap of this rubber tree forms the basis for the latex. The cheaper latex mattresses are made in an aluminium mould. This mould is equipped with metal pins from above and below, which ensure that the latex milk sap, which has been whipped into a foam, can be heated from the inside. This process is called vulcanisation. By using different thicknesses, lengths and amounts of pins, a difference in density of the latex is created, which allows comfort zones to be made in the mattress.
What is Talalay latex?
With Talalay latex, the mould is first evacuated, so that the latex is evenly distributed over the mould. By then exposing the latex to nitrogen gas, it freezes and the closed cell structure bursts open. This creates a very open cell structure which in turn benefits the resilience, ventilation and comfort of the latex. Due to the open cell structure, the Talalay latex mattress is up to 30% cooler than the cheaper latex mattress! Another special property of Talaly latex is that the dust mite does not like to nest in it. This makes a Talalay Latex mattress highly recommended for people with a dust mite allergy.
