Washable wool duvet
A washable wool duvet seems ideal for those who like to wash their own wool duvet. After all, it's easy to make a stain. But unfortunately, with each wash, you rinse the lanolin (wool grease) out of the wool, making it dry, prickly and dusty. Washing a wool duvet yourself is therefore a bad idea. We therefore do not believe in a washable wool duvet. Read here how to get your wool duvet nice and fresh and clean again.
The best alternative
If you decide you want to sleep under wool and want to be able to wash the duvet yourself, the Vedera Tencel/wool duvet is recommended. This duvet is mixed with Tencel and washable new wool. Tencel is excellent to wash, without sacrificing quality. Tencel in combination with special washable wool means that you can wash this duvet yourself. Please note, the following also applies to this duvet. The wool loses quality with each wash. If you really want to be able to wash the duvet yourself often, choose a 100% Tencel duvet. Then you have a duvet that you are guaranteed to enjoy for years.
Why not wash wool duvets?
Lanolin (the wool grease) which makes a wool duvet so special, versatile and comfortable naturally has a great self-cleaning ability. Washing a wool duvet is therefore usually not necessary. Wool becomes drier with each wash, pricks and itches more as a result and no longer has the same fine properties as when purchased. If you do want to freshen up or clean your wool duvet, we advise you to have the duvet cleaned at a dry cleaner's. You can carefully treat small stains yourself with green soap. Hang your wool duvet in the morning dew or mist and your duvet will smell wonderfully fresh again and is as good as new.
It is well known that Texel Sheep's wool is the best quality for filling duvets and pillows. With our Texel Classic and the Texel Classic DeLuxe (with satin cover) you have 2 beautiful duvets with the very best quality wool for a fair price!
If it is important for you to be able to wash your duvet often, we advise you to purchase a bamboo duvet.
Unique in the world - Recycle with us!
Weids Wonen & Slapen is taking the lead and is the first company in the sleep industry to circularly reuse sheep's wool!
When purchasing a wool duvet, you can request a free return label, with which you can return your old wool duvet to us at our expense in the empty box. Your wool duvet will be fully recycled in our own recycling department.
The wool is thoroughly washed and, after a strict quality control, circularly reused for other products, including beanbags for people and animals. The duvet covers are removed and processed into, among other things, insulation material, cleaning cloths and building materials.
