4-season duvet, suitable for all four seasons
The 4-season duvet is the perfect duvet for all four seasons. A 4-season duvet consists of two separate duvet parts: a lighter summer duvet and an autumn/spring duvet. These two duvets can easily be fastened together, allowing you to create a wonderfully warm winter duvet.
A 4-season duvet is therefore not the same as an all-year duvet. With a 4-season duvet, you bring home a duvet that lets you sleep under the right duvet in every season, all year round. A 4-season duvet gives you maximum flexibility, so you never sleep too warm or too cold again!

4-season duvet: sleep well all year round!
In our range you will find a wide variety of 4-season duvets. Of course, we have a suitable duvet size for every bed. Besides size, it is important to know which filling you prefer for your 4-season duvet. Are you looking for a duvet filled with wool, down, cotton, bamboo, Tencel or silk? You will find them all in our collection above! We are also specialists in pillows and offer an extensive range of top-quality bedding.
The best 4-season duvet is different for everyone. We find that wool and down duvets are widely known. Wool is a heavier filling and gives a “tucked-in” feeling. Down, on the other hand, is very light and airy. Silk and Tencel duvets are a little less well-known. A silk 4-season duvet feels like pure luxury. And Tencel combines the most sought-after properties of all duvets: it is incredibly light, soft, durable and helps create the ideal sleep climate.
By buying a 4-season duvet, you bring home a true all-rounder, and it is hard to beat in terms of value. You buy one duvet that is suitable for all four seasons.
One duvet for all four seasons
By buying a 4-season duvet, you bring home a true all-rounder, and it is hard to beat in terms of value. You buy one product that is suitable for all four seasons. We are happy to explain how this works.
A 4-season duvet consists of two separate duvets: a lighter summer duvet (heat class 4) and an autumn/spring duvet (heat class 3). That already covers three seasons. These two parts can easily be fastened together to create a wonderfully warm winter duvet (heat class 1). This makes it an ideal choice, especially if you notice your bedroom temperature fluctuates throughout the year. A 4-season duvet is the product for maximum flexibility , so you will never sleep too warm or too cold again.

Why choose a 4-season duvet?
- Three-in-one solution: Use the lighter part (heat class 4) for summer, the thicker part (heat class 3) for autumn/spring, and fasten them together for ultimate winter warmth (heat class 1).
- Durability: Because you alternate the parts, the filling is under less constant strain than a single duvet used 365 days a year.
- Ideal for changeable weather: In the Netherlands, temperatures can shift quickly. With a 4-season system you can prepare for a cold snap or heatwave in under a minute.
| Feature | 4-Season Duvet | Single Duvet |
|---|---|---|
| Flexibility | High (3 configurations) | Low (1 fixed class) |
| Heat class | Adjustable (1, 3 or 4) | Fixed (e.g. only class 2) |
| Ease of washing | Easier (separate parts) | More difficult (often too large) |
4-season duvet fillings: Down and wool
As you can see, we offer a wide range of fillings. If you can’t see the wood for the trees, don’t worry, we are happy to clarify a few options. For a complete explanation of all filling properties, consult our duvet guide or visit the relevant collection page.
What is the best 4-season duvet?
The best 4-season duvet is different for everyone. In our experience, Texel wool duvets and down duvets (especially from Ducky Dons) are widely known. Wool is a heavier filling and gives a “tucked-in” feeling, while down is a very light, airy filling.
Less commonly chosen are silk and Tencel duvets. A silk 4-season duvet feels like pure luxury: very supple, soft and light, with temperature-regulating properties, you will never feel too warm under silk. Tencel brings together the most desired duvet qualities: light, soft, durable, easy to care for, excellent moisture absorption and anti-allergenic.

4-season duvet 240x220 or 200x200 at Weids Living & Sleeping
You will also find 4-season duvets in sizes 240x220 or 200x200 in our range. 240x220 and 200x200 are the most common sizes for a double duvet. With a 4-season duvet, you can use the same sizing guidelines as shown in the size table on the duvets page. These sizes can also apply when buying an all-year or winter duvet. Although these are the most common dimensions, you can also shop with Weids Living & Sleeping for a 4-season single duvet.
4-season duvet 240x220
240x220 is the most popular duvet size for a double duvet, perfect for sharing with your partner. This size works well for bed widths from 160 to 200 cm. A duvet should always be larger than the width of your bed. If both you and your partner sleep on your sides, a duvet that is too small can leave one of you without cover.
4-season duvet 200x200
200x200 is often chosen for beds with a width of 120 cm up to 160 cm. If you have a double bed and prefer a duvet without (much) overhang, then 200x200 is a good choice.

Frequently asked questions about 4-season duvets
Why choose a 4-season duvet?
A 4-season duvet gives you maximum flexibility. It makes sense that you need a warmer duvet in winter than in summer. With a 4-season duvet (a duvet made up of two parts: a summer duvet and an autumn/spring duvet), you always have the right duvet at home for the season’s temperature. This helps prevent clammy nights in summer and shivering nights in winter. We therefore always recommend a 4-season duvet for the best sleep comfort.
What is a 4-season duvet?
For warm summer nights, you use the “thin” summer duvet (heat class 4). And would you also like to do something about those annoying mosquitoes? Don’t forget to add a mosquito net when buying a summer duvet. When it gets colder and the summer duvet is no longer enough, switch to the thicker autumn/spring duvet (heat class 3). When it becomes really cold, you can easily fasten both parts together to create a wonderfully warm winter duvet (heat class 1). That way, you always have the right duvet for every season and a good night’s sleep is guaranteed.
How exactly does a 4-season duvet work?
A 4-season duvet consists of two separate parts with different thicknesses:
- The summer part: a thin, light duvet (heat class 4) for warm nights.
- The autumn/spring part: a thicker duvet (heat class 3) for spring and autumn.
- The winter mode: by fastening both parts together, you create a thick winter duvet (heat class 1).
How are the two parts fastened together?
This varies by brand and model. The most common systems are:
- Press studs: the best-known method; easy to click on and off.
- Zips: ensures the parts cannot shift anywhere.
- Buttons with buttonholes: often found on more luxurious cotton or wool duvets.
- Hook-and-loop (Velcro) or ties: less common, but very quick to use.
Isn’t a 4-season duvet too heavy in winter?
This depends strongly on the filling.
- Down, silk and Tencel: extremely light, even when you fasten both parts together.
- Wool, cashmere or camel hair: these materials are naturally heavier. Some people like that “cosy security” feeling, while others find it too heavy on the feet.
- Bamboo or cotton: these materials are naturally heavier. Some people like that “cosy security” feeling, while others find it too heavy on the feet.
