Wool Winter Duvet
A wool winter duvet is a wonderfully warm duvet and perfectly suited for people who like a nice warm bed and/or for people who sleep in an unheated and/or poorly insulated bedroom. A winter duvet guarantees you a wonderfully warm and comfortable sleep during cold winter nights!
The great thing about a wool winter duvet is that the wool can retain heat very well. That means when you have to get out of bed for a bit during the night, you can just step back into a just as nice warm bed. Another nice feature of a wool winter duvet is that it really gives a feeling of 'tucking you in'. And it's precisely that feeling that many find gives a very nice warm and cosy feeling.
A wool duvet never needs refilling. Moreover, the wool in a wool duvet is dirt-repellent due to the purified lanolin. Regular airing is therefore enough to keep your wool duvet fresh and in shape. The wool of a good quality wool duvet has 'self-cleaning' properties. This is partly because a small percentage of the wool grease (lanolin) remains in the wool. Lanolin is dirt-repellent. To keep the duvet in good condition, it is sufficient to air the duvet regularly.
Please note that you do not place the duvet in direct sunlight. The sun bleaches the cover and dries the wool out strongly. If, unexpectedly, a stain appears in the ticking, you can first try to remove the stain with a little ox gall soap or green soap. If this does not work, you can take your wool duvet to the dry cleaner. There, your wool duvet will be cleaned on the special wool programme. We strongly advise against hitting a wool duvet with a carpet beater or vacuuming it.
The lifespan of a wool duvet is also largely determined by maintenance. With normal maintenance, you will enjoy a good quality wool duvet for about 10 years. Although your wool duvet may still be perfectly adequate after that, for hygienic reasons it is actually due for replacement.
