Down Summer Duvet
Down is the soft, fluffy layer that birds have to protect themselves from the cold. It consists of thousands of tiny pieces that provide excellent insulation and ventilation while being incredibly lightweight. For many, this is the main reason to choose a down summer duvet. It’s certainly a pleasant choice during warm summer nights.
Maintaining a Down Summer Duvet
Every down summer duvet can be cleaned according to the instructions on the care label. If you want to wash your summer down duvet, this is possible at up to 40°C, provided you can dry it with circulating air (in a tumble dryer). This ensures the down is fluffed up again and regains its volume.
TIP! If your down summer duvet has become a bit flat, give it a refresh in the tumble dryer (preferably on a ‘cool’ or ‘air’ setting). Adding a tennis ball will help fluff up your down summer duvet and restore its volume..
Lifespan
The lifespan of a down summer duvet is largely determined by its maintenance. With proper care, you can enjoy a high-quality down summer duvet for about 10 years. While your down summer duvet may still perform well after this period, for hygienic reasons, it’s usually time to replace it by then.
Recycle with Us!
When you purchase a down duvet, you can request a free return label, which allows you to send your old down duvet back to us at no cost in the empty box.
We recycle our down duvets through our manufacturer, Ducky Dons. The entire duvet is recycled: high-quality down and feathers are reused after thorough washing and strict quality control. Down and feathers that don’t pass the quality check are disposed of and processed into organic fertilisers. The covers are also disposed of and repurposed into materials such as insulation, cleaning cloths, and building materials.
