Making the Bed with a Split-Topper Fitted Sheet

A neatly made bed can be a point of pride for anyone whether you're a homemaker, student, or even a child. The clean lines and symmetry of a well-made bed bring a sense of calm and order to any bedroom. But then… you bought a topper.
Topper mattresses add extra height and a bit of a wrinkle (pun intended) to your bed-making routine. Thankfully, with a little patience and the right type of fitted sheet, you can still make your bed beautifully and effortlessly, even with a split-topper.

Step 1
Start with a split-topper fitted sheet from Weids Living & Sleeping. Pull it over the corners of your bed and tuck it around the sides. Sheets with deep corners can typically accommodate mattresses up to 25 cm high, while standard sheets usually fit only up to 18 cm. If you use a standard fitted sheet on your topper mattress, you won’t be able to pull the elastic section properly under the mattress, which means the sheet may slip off or come loose during the night.

Step 2
Place the split-topper fitted sheet on the bed. Once it's firmly in place, lay a flat sheet on top. Ensure the sheet hangs evenly on both sides. Tuck the flat sheet securely at the foot of the bed. If you prefer, you can use hospital corners (tight, double-folded corners) for an extra neat finish and to help keep the sheet in place overnight.

Step 3
Layer your blankets on top of the sheets. Again, make sure the sides fall evenly on both sides of the bed. You can also use hospital corners with the blanket for a smooth and tidy look.

Step 4
Place your pillows at the head of the bed. If you like, you can also use hospital corners at the head of the bed once the pillows are in place for a crisp hotel-style finish.

Step 5
Add your duvet and/or bedspread. These final touches not only bring warmth but also add a stylish, personal touch to your bed.
