Wool filling 4 seasons duvet
A two-part seasons duvet with filling has the unique property that it can absorb as much as 35% of its own weight in moisture without the duvet feeling damp or clammy. When this filling material absorbs moisture, it simultaneously releases heat, creating a balanced thermal insulation. With a wool-filled 4 seasons duvet you'll sleep wonderfully warm in the winter and nice and cool in the summer.
Another special property (with a good quality one) is the presence of lanolin, also known as wool grease. It's a substance that repels dirt. It has also been shown that lanolin has a proven beneficial effect on muscles and joints. It's no surprise that wool duvets and underblankets have been praised by rheumatism sufferers for years.
Seasons 2-part duvet with wool filling
A 4 seasons duvet with this filling consists of 2 duvet parts. One duvet part is a summer duvet (warmth class 4) and the other duvet is a spring and autumn duvet (warmth class 3). In most cases, these 2 duvet parts can be attached to each other with press studs or a zip, together forming a wonderfully warm winter duvet (warmth class 1).
This type of duvet for all seasons never needs to be refilled. In addition, the filling of this duvet is dirt-repellent due to the purified lanolin. Regular airing is therefore enough to keep your 4 seasons duvet fresh and in shape. You can also take your wool duvet to the dry cleaner without any problems.
The filling material of this two-part duvet has 'self-cleaning' properties. This is partly because a small percentage of the wool grease (lanolin) remains. Lanolin repels dirt. If you air your duvet or underblanket with this filling material regularly, it will stay fresh.
Please note that you should not place the duvet in direct sunlight. The sun bleaches the cover and dries out the wool strongly. If, unexpectedly, a stain gets into the ticking, you can first try to remove the stain with a little ox-gall soap or green soap. If this doesn't work, you can take your 4 seasons duvet to the dry cleaner. There, your duvet will be cleaned on the special wool programme. We strongly advise against hitting a duvet with wool filling with a carpet beater or vacuuming it.
The lifespan of the two-part seasons duvet with this filling is also largely determined by maintenance. With normal maintenance you will enjoy a good quality duvet for about 10 years. Although your 4 seasons duvet may still be perfectly adequate after that, it should actually be replaced for hygienic reasons.
