Nighttime is the perfect moment to truly unwind.
Naturally, you don’t want to be bothered by allergies or dust mites during your rest. So, which duvet is the best choice for you? I’ve done the research for you!
Duvets can be effective against allergies for several reasons. For instance, some are highly washable, while for others, the specific material itself naturally determines its anti-allergenic properties.
Wool Duvet
Wool has a natural self-cleaning effect thanks to its excellent ventilation. Mold and fungi stand almost no chance because they require heat and moisture to thrive. Since wool regulates temperature and breathes effectively, it creates a cool, dry sleep climate. Wool contains lanolin (wool fat), which ensures the fiber is antibacterial and dirt-repellent. Due to the high quality of our wool duvets and consequently their high lanolin content the duvet won't "prickle" or "itch." In short, it’s an ideal duvet that keeps you warm in winter and wonderfully cool in summer. Allergy who?

Down Duvet
Down is also a perfect anti-allergenic and dust mite-free duvet choice. Most down duvets can be washed at 60 degrees Celsius and are tumble-dryer safe. This makes the duvet highly suitable for people with a dust mite allergy.
Oeko-Tex and NOMITE Labels
When a duvet carries the Oeko-Tex label, it guarantees that the product is free from harmful substances that pose a health risk. The NOMITE label indicates that you are dealing with a duvet that is anti-allergenic and specifically suitable for individuals with a dust mite allergy.
Silk Duvet
Silk is a wonderfully soft and smooth textile fiber. This prevents silk from attracting or releasing dust, and pests generally dislike residing in silk. As a result, this duvet is also anti-allergenic and dust mite-free. All Sichou duvets in our collection carry the aforementioned Oeko-Tex certification!
Synthetic Duvet
A synthetic duvet can be washed at high temperatures, making it another perfect option for those with dust mite allergies. While we don't necessarily recommend a synthetic duvet over a natural one (because natural products generally ventilate better), they remain a practical choice for hygiene.

Tencel Duvet
Tencel is made from the wood of the Eucalyptus tree, sourced from specially managed, sustainable forests. A key feature of the Tencel duvet is that perspiration often goes unnoticed due to the high moisture absorption of the Tencel fiber. Moisture is absorbed so efficiently into the fiber that bacteria don't feel at home in Tencel, which is why it is naturally anti-allergenic.
Bamboo Duvet
Bamboo is a 100% natural product that grows incredibly fast and is cultivated sustainably. A bamboo duvet is proven to be antibacterial, antifungal, and washable up to 40°C more than enough to be fully anti-allergenic. Additionally, bamboo has outstanding moisture-regulating properties, making it an excellent choice for duvet filling.
Fortunately, there are plenty of duvets to enjoy even if you suffer from allergies or dust mites. If you have any questions about a specific duvet, please don't hesitate to ask us!
