Our SteunWol is made from 100% natural sheep wool. This high-quality wool filling has a lot of volume and is very resilient. This makes this special wool perfect for filling, among other things, wool support cushions, sofa and chair cushions, stuffed animals, dolls, home decor, and all sorts of creative projects. Thanks to the natural resilience and softness of wool, your filling remains airy, shape-retaining, and comfortably soft.

Sheep wool is one of the most sustainable and versatile materials for fillings. Our pure virgin wool naturally has a beautiful fine crimp and a high lanolin (wool fat) content. The quality of the crimp guarantees excellent insulation and ventilation. Because our wool ventilates excellently and regulates temperature itself, it creates a wonderfully cool and dry climate.

How to recognize good quality sheep wool?
Good quality wool, i.e., with a high lanolin content, can be recognized by its smell. Sheep wool should smell like... well, sheep! The wool also feels slightly greasy. This is also a good indication.
Origin of our wool - Wol Fabryk Fryslân
Wol Fabryk Fryslânis a unique and local initiative fully focused on the sustainable and circular processing of Frisian sheep wool. In close collaboration with local sheep farmers, the wool is collected directly from the source. Where sheep wool was often seen as a waste product with little value in the past, at Wol Fabryk Fryslân it gets a second life as high-quality filling material for various products.
Upon delivery, the wool is carefully sorted for quality and usability. Suitable wool proceeds to the in-house wool washing facility, where it is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected at no less than 172 degrees Celsius using a specialized and environmentally friendly washing process. This makes our wool 100% hygienically clean and free of bacteria. As wool is a 100% natural product, the wool filling may still contain some visible imperfections after the washing process. This does not detract from the quality and hygiene of the wool.
Wool that is not suitable for processing into, for example, pillows or duvets also gets a sustainable destination. This wool is processed intowool hydro granules, an innovative product that can be used in horticulture and agriculture. Thanks to the natural properties of wool, retaining moisture and slowly releasing nutrients, it is an ideal circular fertilizer and soil improver. Thus, wool forms a local, sustainable, and completely natural alternative to artificial fertilizers.
In addition to the production of new wool products, the recycling of existing wool duvets and pillows also plays an important role. In collaboration with processors and technological partners, work is being done on a closed-loop system where wool can be reused time and again. This way, nothing is lost, and the value of this beautiful natural product is preserved for the region.
With Wol Fabryk Fryslân, a new, local wool chain is created: from farmer to consumer, with respect for nature, animals, and people. Every product that comes from here contributes to a more sustainable world and shows that local raw materials have a great future.
