Duvet cover
When you search online for a duvet cover, you’ll be overwhelmed by the enormous range available. Duvet covers come in every imaginable color and just as many designs. But how do you make the right choice?
Buying a duvet cover
When choosing a duvet cover, your focus shouldn’t be solely on the color or design. Of course, it’s important that the cover complements your bedroom interior. But even more important is the material, the fabric the duvet cover or fitted sheet is made from. When you sleep, your eyes are closed. What remains is the feeling, the touch of the fabric against your skin. That’s precisely why it’s so important for the fabric of your duvet cover to feel soft and comfortable.
In addition, a duvet cover serves a protective function, much like a mattress protector does for a mattress.
Below you’ll find our extensive collection of duvet covers. You probably already have a color in mind. From there, you can choose your preferred fabric type. Then it’s best to filter by the desired size of your duvet cover. [Click here for an explanation of the different fabric types and advice on how to choose the right size.

Duvet Cover Fabric Types
Cotton Duvet Covers
Cotton is a 100% pure natural material. It is the most commonly used and also the most versatile textile fibre. Cotton is highly absorbent, offers excellent ventilation and insulation (it’s wonderfully breathable), and can be washed at high temperatures.
Percale Cotton Duvet Covers
Percale cotton is the finest and softest quality cotton. A fabric can only be called percale when a specific number of threads per inch has been used, achieved through a special weaving technique.
Percale and satin cotton are quite similar, but percale is less smooth and has a more matte appearance compared to the slight sheen of satin cotton. This subtle difference is why some people prefer percale over satin.
Satin Cotton Duvet Covers
Like percale cotton, satin cotton is an exceptionally fine, soft and supple fabric. Thanks to a special weaving technique, the threads are woven very closely together. Satin uses what’s known as a ‘sateen weave’, which gives the fabric its signature luxurious, smooth and subtly glossy appearance. This natural smoothness also creates a cooling effect against the skin. Alongside its softness and elegant look, this cooling comfort is one of the most common reasons people choose a satin cotton duvet cover.
Tencel Duvet Covers
Sleeping under a Tencel duvet cover is a true sleep sensation! Our Tencel covers are made from 100% natural, biodegradable material. Tencel is derived from wood pulp, specifically eucalyptus trees grown in sustainably managed forests. By choosing Tencel, you’re opting for sustainable and healthy sleep.
One of Tencel’s most important qualities is its exceptional moisture absorption. It absorbs up to 150% more moisture than cotton, meaning you’ll feel far less sweaty at night. Its natural properties also inhibit bacterial growth, making it highly hygienic and kind to the skin. As a result, Tencel is naturally hypoallergenic, perfect for allergy sufferers.
Tencel combines the most sought-after qualities of all fabrics: it’s as soft as silk, as strong as polyester, as easy to wash as acrylic, and boasts the luxurious look of satin or silk.
Silk Duvet Covers
Silk duvet covers by Sichou are crafted from 100% mulberry silk and woven in a sateen weave, resulting in what is known as satin silk. This luxurious weaving technique creates an exceptionally soft, supple and smooth finish perfect for a restful night's sleep.
Each silk duvet cover is made from a single piece of fabric, meaning there are no unsightly seams running through the centre or sides of the bed linen. This seamless design adds to the aesthetic and sleeping comfort.
A Sichou silk duvet cover is ideal for anyone with sensitive skin, dry hair, or who frequently suffers from skin irritation. The smoothness of the silk has a naturally calming effect on the nervous system, promoting deeper, more peaceful rest.
The quality of silk is measured in momme, a unit that refers to the weight of a specific area of silk fabric. For bedding, a momme weight of 12–16 represents good quality, while 16–19 momme indicates a premium, high-end grade of silk.
Linen Duvet Covers
Linen is a natural fabric known for its light, breathable texture. A linen duvet cover offers excellent ventilation and moisture absorption, making it feel refreshingly cool in the summer and comfortably warm in the winter. It helps regulate your body temperature throughout the night, so you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
Thanks to the unique structure of the fibres, dust mites don’t thrive on linen, making it a great choice for people and children with allergies. Linen combines comfort with durability and is ideal for those who appreciate a relaxed, natural sleeping environment.
Bamboo Duvet Covers
Bamboo duvet covers are one of the latest trends in sustainable bedding and with good reason. Made from 100% natural bamboo fibres, they are incredibly soft, lightweight, and hypoallergenic. The smooth finish feels like silk against the skin and drapes beautifully over the bed.
Not only is bamboo extremely gentle for sensitive skin, but it’s also a highly eco-friendly choice, as bamboo grows quickly with minimal environmental impact. A bamboo duvet cover is perfect for those looking to combine luxury comfort with sustainable living.
Jersey Duvet Covers
Jersey refers not to the material itself, but to the knitting technique used in its production. It’s a machine-made fabric known for its stretchy and flexible qualities, unlike traditional woven textiles. This makes a jersey duvet cover more elastic and forgiving, offering a cosy, snug fit on your bed.
All the jersey duvet covers in our collection are made from 100% pure cotton, making them soft, breathable, and gentle on the skin. Ideal for those who appreciate comfort with a casual look and feel.
Pima Cotton Duvet Covers
A Pima cotton duvet cover is the absolute pinnacle of luxury. Grown only in tropical climates, Pima cotton features extra-long fibres,up to 35% longer than standard cotton. This makes it the strongest and most durable cotton in the world, while also being extraordinarily soft.
Thanks to its natural lustre and resistance to pilling, a Pima cotton cover keeps its beautiful appearance even after frequent washing. The fabric is lightweight, silky-smooth, and elegantly drapes over your bed, making it the ultimate choice for anyone seeking a long-lasting, premium bedding experience.
Twill Cotton Duvet Covers
Twill cotton is made from 100% natural cotton and woven using a special diagonal weave, known as a twill or herringbone weave. This unique weaving technique gives the fabric its distinctive diagonal stripe texture. Twill is considered one of the strongest and most durable types of weave.
Thanks to this tightly woven structure, a twill cotton duvet cover feels thicker, fuller, and softer than standard cotton covers. It offers a comforting weight while remaining breathable, perfect for those who love a bit of extra cosiness without overheating.
Flannel Duvet Covers
Flannel is a beautifully soft fabric made from loosely spun, brushed cotton fibres. This process gives flannel its signature fuzzy, velvety finish, making it feel extra warm and cosy to the touch.
A flannel duvet cover absorbs your body heat quickly and retains warmth exceptionally well, making it an ideal choice for chilly winter nights. If you often feel cold in bed, a flannel cover can make all the difference. Yet its natural moisture-wicking properties also make it surprisingly comfortable in warmer months, keeping you dry and comfortable even if you sweat during the night.
Organic Duvet Covers
Our organic duvet covers are made from 100% certified organic cotton or Tencel®. What makes these duvet covers truly special is their honest and eco-friendly origin. The hand-picked cotton is grown without harmful chemicals and traded fairly, making for an ethical sleep you can truly feel good about.
During production, every effort is made to ensure a clean and responsible process. The cotton is bleached using oxygen, not chlorine, and no formaldehyde or dyes containing heavy metals are used. This not only protects the environment but also makes these duvet covers highly suitable for people with sensitive skin or allergies.
Tencel®, a fully natural and biodegradable fibre, is made from sustainably sourced wood. It carries the European PEFC and international FSC certifications, and has received numerous awards for its environmentally responsible production. Soft as silk and gentle on the planet, Tencel® is a top choice for conscious and comfortable sleeping.
Microfibre Duvet Covers
Microfibre is a synthetic fibre, and while a microfibre duvet cover may feel soft and come at a lower price, it’s often not the best choice for a restful night’s sleep.
Unlike natural fibres, microfibre does not breathe well. It traps heat quickly and cannot absorb moisture, leaving you feeling hot, clammy, and restless. For that reason, we have chosen not to include microfibre duvet covers in our collection, because quality sleep begins with quality materials.
Green Duvet Covers
Getting a good night's rest is essential, and your choice of bedding plays a bigger role than you might think. A green duvet cover is not only a popular colour in bedroom textiles, it also has a calming, restorative effect. That’s because green is closely associated with nature and plant life, helping you to relax and unwind.

What Size Duvet Cover Do I Need?
Duvet cover sizes are always shown in the order: width x length, in centimetres.
Width of your duvet cover
- Mattress 70–90 cm wide = single duvet cover, 140 cm wide
- Mattress 120–140 cm wide = large single (160 cm wide) up to double duvet cover, 200 cm wide
- Mattress 160–180 cm wide = king-size duvet cover, 240 cm wide
- Mattress 200 cm wide or more = super king-size duvet cover, 260–270 cm wide, also known as lits-jumeaux
There’s no difference between the size of your duvet and your duvet cover. Manufacturers ensure a proper fit, duvets are typically made slightly narrower, while duvet covers are made a little roomier. This also accounts for slight shrinkage after washing.
As a general rule, your duvet (and duvet cover) should be at least 40 cm wider than your mattress. So always check the size of your mattress (and duvet) carefully before purchasing a duvet cover.
Pillowcase
All our duvet covers are supplied with matching pillowcases.
- A single duvet cover (up to 160 cm wide) comes with 1 pillowcase.
- A double duvet cover (over 160 cm wide) comes with 2 pillowcases
Length of your duvet cover
If you’re taller than 1.80 m, we recommend choosing a duvet (and duvet cover) with a length of 220 cm.
If you’re shorter than 1.80 m, or you prefer to sleep with your feet uncovered, 200 cm in length will usually suffice.
However, all our duvet covers are suitable for both 200 cm and 220 cm long duvets. That’s because our covers include a continuous double tuck-in flap an opening that runs along the entire bottom width, allowing for easy fitting of even extra-long duvets.
Washing instructions for your duvet cover
Before washing, always turn your duvet cover and pillowcases inside out.
Use the easy-care or wrinkle-resistant cycle on your washing machine, and always follow the care label instructions.
We recommend using liquid detergent, as it’s gentler on your bedding.
Avoid fabric softener instead, you can use a small amount of vinegar (half a capful is enough).
And don’t forget: wash dark colours separately.
Drying and ironing your duvet cover
As soon as the washing cycle has finished, remove your duvet cover from the washing machine and begin drying it straight away. Never leave your duvet cover damp inside the machine, even for a short time. Avoid soaking or leaving it to stand in water, even with hand washing. Also, be mindful of the rinse hold option on some washing machines it may delay the drying process.
For an easy-care result (minimal or no ironing), tumble dry your duvet cover for 5 to 10 minutes, then hang it up immediately. This gives the best results in terms of smoothness.
If you air-dry your duvet cover on a line or rack, ironing is often unnecessary. When drying outdoors, make sure to keep the cover inside out to prevent the fabric from fading in the sun.
If you prefer to use a tumble dryer entirely, we recommend doing so at a low temperature to preserve the quality of the fabric.
