What can you do to sleep better?

Do you ever struggle to fall asleep? Or do you spend hours tossing and turning?

This can be fixed by developing a consistent evening routine. Once you train yourself to follow a routine, your brain eventually learns to recognize that it’s time for sleep. Here are 6 tips for a solid evening routine.

Tip 1

A good night's rest starts with the right sleep gear. The correct mattress, a pillow that matches your sleeping position, and a high-quality duvet are essential. When these align with your specific needs, you’re already well on your way to a restful night. Not sure what your body requires? We’re happy to provide personal advice.

Tip 2

Try to avoid screens for about an hour before you go to bed. Your brain needs time to register that it’s time to sleep. When you look at a screen, the blue light tricks your brain into thinking it’s still daytime and that it needs to stay active. By ditching the screens, dimming the lights, and perhaps lighting a candle, you signal to your brain that evening has arrived and bedtime is near.

Tip 3

Enjoy a cup of tea. Tea can have a calming effect and is highly conducive to sleep. However, try not to drink it right before you climb into bed, or you’ll likely find yourself waking up in the middle of the night for a bathroom break.

Tip 4

Follow your usual evening ritual. Think of things like brushing your teeth, removing your makeup, washing your face, etc. By repeating these steps every night, your brain receives a signal that it’s time to wind down and prepare for sleep.

Tip 5

Read a few pages of a good book. Reading helps the brain relax and allows it to let go of the day's thoughts. This results in a much higher quality and deeper sleep.

Tip 6

The mindset you go to sleep with is the mindset you wake up with. Personally, I find it very helpful at the end of the day to reflect on what I’ve done and how I can make tomorrow even better. This positive mindset helps me especially in these unique times, to wake up refreshed and ready for a beautiful new day! I’m curious to hear if you think these tips will help you.
