How do I use my hot water bottle safely?
Regularly check your hot water bottle for signs of wear, damage, and leaks. When you start using the hot water bottle, follow these steps:
Check the hot water bottle for damage and ensure the screw cap is tight and stays in place.
Unscrew the cap and fill the bottle 3/4 full with hot water, maximum 50-60°C.
Preferably do not use hot tap water, as it can contain minerals and bacteria that accumulate in the bottle. Use boiled water; these bacteria are killed during the boiling process. Let the boiled water cool for a few minutes before pouring it into the bottle. Boiling hot water can damage the seams of the bottle and increase the risk of burns.
Once you have finished pouring, slowly squeeze out the remaining air from the hot water bottle and screw the cap on tightly.
Dry the outside of the bottle and cap, and place the wool cover around the hot water bottle.
