Tencel Edition 101 Winter Duvet - Single (140 x 220 cm)
51
The Tencel Edition 101 winter duvet is a wonderfully warm duvet for the cold winter months or if you are a very cold sleeper. Tencel is made from wood (Eucalyptus tree) sourced from specially managed, sustainable forests. An important property of Tencel is that perspiration is not noticed due to the high moisture absorption of the Tencel fiber. Moisture is absorbed so well into the fiber that bacteria do not feel at home in Tencel, which is also why Tencel is hypoallergenic.

The Tencel Edition 101 winter duvet is a wonderfully 100% ecological duvet. The filling is 100% Tencel. Tencel is made from wood (Eucalyptus tree) sourced from specially managed, sustainable forests. A key characteristic of Tencel is its high moisture absorption, which means perspiration is not noticeable. Tencel absorbs 150% more moisture than cotton. Tencel is as soft as silk and as strong as polyester. Moisture is absorbed so effectively into the fiber that bacteria cannot thrive in Tencel, which is also why Tencel is hypoallergenic (= anti-allergic).

Which type of duvet?
If your bedroom temperature fluctuates slightly throughout the year or if you can easily control the temperature (open window or heating on), the Tencel all-year duvet is a good choice. For a warm bedroom and/or a warm sleeper, the Tencel summer duvet is highly recommended. If you are unsure about which type of duvet best suits you, we recommend the Tencel 4-seasons duvet. The Tencel 4-seasons duvet consists of 2 duvet parts. A summer duvet (warmth class 4) and an all-year duvet (warmth class 3). For very cold nights, you can easily connect these two with snap buttons to create a wonderfully warm winter duvet (warmth class 1). This guarantees you sleep comfortably all year round! For a single duvet, choose the Tencel Edition 101 winter duvet.
You can easily wash the Tencel duvet at home. The duvet can be machine washed up to 40 °C. This ensures you always sleep fresh and hygienically clean.
Our Tencel duvets and pillows feature the Oeko-Tex label, an originally German organization with a strict policy against harmful substances in textiles. Oeko-tex was founded in 1992 to combat the use of harmful chemicals in textiles and clothing. Products manufactured according to Oeko-Tex standards are rigorously tested.
Tencel
TENCEL® is a 100% natural material and is fully biodegradable. The raw material for this material is wood, sourced from sustainably managed plantations. It has received the European quality mark PEFC and the international mark FSC. TENCEL® has received numerous awards for its environmentally friendly production process.
TENCEL® is highly functional. Excellent moisture permeability is one of the fundamental properties of this material. Extensive research has shown that 85% of people with sensitive skin prefer TENCEL® over other materials. Bacteria cannot survive in Tencel material, and dust mites disappear within 6 weeks. No chemicals are used in Tencel material, which is an important factor for sensitive skin. Tencel can absorb moisture and then distribute it over the surface, ensuring your sleeping environment remains pleasantly dry.
Tencel, the secret?
Tencel is the first cellulose fiber to derive its immense strength from nanotechnology. As a result of the concentrated and regular structure of its non-fibers, new functional properties can be added to Tencel. These guarantee excellent moisture absorption combined with optimal moisture management. During sleep, our bodies release at least 0.4 liters of perspiration, but Tencel's exceptionally good moisture absorption ensures your bedding remains pleasantly dry, thus promoting restful sleep. For clarity, TENCEL® absorbs over 50% more moisture than cotton. This is in contrast to polyester, which absorbs no moisture at all.
Lyocell (Tencel) is an artificial fiber with a natural basis. The raw material for this fiber is wood pulp, similar to viscose rayon, and it is also spun using the wet spinning process. The key difference lies in the dissolution of the wood fibers. The process for viscose rayon is not environmentally friendly, using sodium hydroxide, carbon disulfide, and sulfuric acid, which produce harmful byproducts. Carbon disulfide is hazardous to health and highly flammable.
These drawbacks have been overcome in lyocell by using a new solvent (N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide) and modifying the process to create a closed-loop system where the solvent is recovered. The fiber's properties generally align with those of viscose, but its wet strength is better, and it wrinkles less. Lyocell is marketed under the brand name Tencel by the Austrian company Lenzing.
