They tend to roll forward because their upper arm cannot float in the air and seeks support on the mattress. This results in a position somewhere between side sleeping and stomach sleeping, the 3/4 position. In this position, the upper shoulder hangs forward, creating a slight strain in the area between the shoulder blades and the neck. This is precisely the area that is already stressed by poor working postures (working with shoulders forward). Consequently, the connective tissue cannot recover sufficiently during the night.
