The Savanne Orthopedic Memory Foam mattress is a godsend for people with back or muscle problems, circulation issues, bedsores, or rheumatism, or for those who simply have high demands on sleeping comfort. The pressure-relieving and temperature-sensitive properties of this orthopedic memory foam mattress allow the spine and joints to rest in their natural position.
The construction of the Savanne Orthopedic Memory Foam mattress
The memory foam mattress is constructed from 2 layers. The core of the orthopedic mattress is made of approx. 16 cm of cold foam with a density (resilience) of 55 kg/m3 (HR55). Due to its open-cell structure, cold foam guarantees perfect ventilation, ensuring a fresh and clean mattress. Additionally, the cold foam provides a very good, stable base. The top layer of this orthopedic memory foam mattress is made of approx. 7 cm of AP memory foam with a density of 50 kg/m³ (SG50). AP stands for Angel Pearl, which is the latest generation of memory foam. In addition to the widely praised moldability of the material, this AP memory foam also ventilates excellently.
The cover (ticking) of the Savanne Orthopedic Memory Foam mattress
The mattress is finished with a luxurious 480 gr. quilted cover filled with approx. 200 gr/m2 super fine hollow fiber. This ensures optimal insulation and excellent moisture balance. This cover is removable and washable at 40 degrees.
The mattress cover is specially treated and carries the Aegis Premium quality mark. This is a quality mark for high-tech mattresses, where both the cover and the underlying comfort filling have the following features:
Anti-allergenic
Aegis Premium offers optimal protection against dust mites and microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. Aegis Premium is a high-tech coating that is present on both the fibers of the mattress fabric and in the comfort filling. Microorganisms that come into contact with this coating cannot develop further. Aegis Premium stops the growth of bacteria and fungi, which are the main cause of unpleasant odors.
Moisture-regulating
The mattress fabric is equipped with a Passerelle coating and the top layer of the comfort filling consists of Climawatt. This superb combination of both the mattress cover and the comfort filling ensures remarkable moisture absorption and accelerated dispersion of moisture over a larger surface area of the mattress. The transported moisture can therefore evaporate faster and more efficiently. This prevents moisture accumulation in your mattress, which forms an ideal environment for the development of microorganisms.
The total height of the orthopedic memory foam mattress is approx. 23 cm thick. The mattress is suitable for all types of bed bases and does not need to be turned. Which is very convenient.
Memory foam is a special type of viscoelastic foam, also known as NASA foam. The origin of this material lies in the aerospace industry. In the 1970s, NASA conducted extensive research into spacesuits that provided optimal pressure distribution. This research revealed that memory foam is the optimal pressure distributor. This type of foam is often used in hospitals and wheelchairs. Memory foam has an open-cell structure, ensuring optimal wicking of body heat and moisture.
How memory foam works
Memory foam works as follows: When you lie down on the mattress, it perfectly molds to your body shape. When you get off the mattress, it slowly returns to its original flat shape. Memory foam thus takes the shape of your body under the influence of your body weight and body heat. The foam also reacts to the ambient temperature; especially in winter, it is advisable to let a memory foam mattress acclimatize after purchase. If the sleeping environment is cold, the mattress may initially feel firm, but it will soften once it has absorbed your body heat.
